The two-part series (about Christian music and Christian film) is informed by its thesis statement/challenge: “As Christians who believe in a limitless creative God, should we demand better films (and music) or settle for what is given to us because it’s Christian?”. That’s a great challenge to believers in the arts – which Josh goes on excellently articulate and show – these are art forms, and should be treated as such. I found these videos very thought provoking, well presented (in its points and its wonderful edit job), and insightful. And I’ll admit – I agreed with a lot of what he was saying. The thing I probably love the most about these videos is how constructive they are – while they’re saying things need improvement, they also say (and show) how they could (and areas where they are already better) improve. Well worth a watch…which you can below!:
Know what’s also cool? A dude who writes a number of the Pure Flix films responded to – and agreed and answered the criticisms. Heck, he posted some of his own criticisms of Christian films in a great blog post. I loved seeing this interaction – it just made me really happy, cause when does this ever happen in a comment section? Especially a youtube comment section?!
Know whats also ALSO cool? A gentleman named bookstoge who has a great site you should check out. If you’re a bookworm or 90s comic fan (or even just like a good website), he has some stuff for you.
So what did y’all think of the videos? Do you agree with Mr Keefe? Did you disagree? Let me know in the comments, I’d love to know!
Hope you enjoyed the post! Have a wonderful day, and God bless my friends!
